Surgical goals
During breast reduction surgery, the benefits become evident immediately postoperatively, improving symptoms associated with excess breast tissue (back and neck pain, social and self-esteem disorders, sexuality, etc.).
In this surgery, our aim is not only to decrease breast volume but also to grant them an appropriate and youthful shape. Achieving harmony between the size of the breast and the patient’s physical stature is accomplished through repositioning of breast tissue to its proper location and lifting of the nipple-areolar complex, which is often descended in these cases.
Indications
Patients with excess breast tissue may experience difficulties:
- Physical: back and neck pain, chronic skin lesions on the shoulders caused by bra straps, redness and erosion of the breast fold, discomfort during physical activity.
- Aesthetic: pendulous breasts, low positioning of the areola and nipple with an increased diameter.
- Emotional: low self-esteem, difficulty finding suitable clothing, etc.
General information
Patient satisfaction is almost immediate after surgery, resulting in improvements in all previously experienced symptoms. This leads to a significant enhancement in the quality of life for our patients.
- There are different surgical techniques available to achieve harmonious breast shape and size, the selection of which depends on the degree of excess tissue, i.e., the severity of each case. A personalized evaluation and selection of the ideal surgical technique to be employed in each case are necessary.
- The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia.
- The recovery time varies but is typically around 7-15 days.
